‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Trailer: Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly Has Just One Line, and It’s a Gut-Punch
By cinecinnati
The first teaser trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 has materialized. And in a classic Miranda Priestly power move, it’s agonizingly brief.
Gird your loins. It actually happened. After nineteen years of echoing silence, persistent rumors, and even Anne Hathaway herself publicly doubting a sequel could work in a “different era,” 20th Century Studios just shattered the internet.
This isn’t a montage. It’s a scalpel. We see Andy Sachs (Hathaway), no longer the rain-soaked, flustered girl from Ohio, but a composed, impossibly chic woman. She steps into a cold, modern elevator. The doors open.
And there she is.
Meryl Streep, back as the silver-haired monarch of Runway. The camera holds. Miranda’s eyes cut through the lens. She doesn’t so much as blink. Then, the voice that fueled a generation’s nightmares and ambitions:
“Took you long enough.”
That’s it. That’s the entire trailer. The line is a four-word knife-twist—a devastatingly simple acknowledgment of the 19-year chasm since Andy walked away in Paris, and a direct, meta-slap to the audience that has waited just as long.

The Runway Roster: Who’s Back?
While the teaser focuses exclusively on its two titans, 20th Century Studios has confirmed the original quad is back. Emily Blunt is set to reprise her role as the perpetually stressed, one-stomach-flu-away-from-her-goal-weight Emily. Stanley Tucci also returns as the indispensable, sharp-witted Nigel. Keeping them out of the first look is a calculated move, making us beg for more.
David Frankel, who directed the 2006 phenomenon, is back, as is writer Aline Brosh McKenna. This isn’t a hand-off; it’s the original team reassembling.
New Blood in the Collection
This isn’t just a nostalgia lap. The new call sheet is stacked with heavy hitters and fresh faces set to navigate the Runway minefield. Joining the ensemble are Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley (Bridgerton), Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Pauline Chalamet, and B.J. Novak.
The biggest rumor? Sydney Sweeney. The Euphoria star was reportedly spotted on set, but her role—or if she even has one—is a total black box, locked down tighter than the Book before a Paris run.
The sequel, drawing from Lauren Weisberger’s 2013 follow-up novel Revenge Wears Prada, has to answer the billion-dollar question: Is Andy back for another round of torture, or is she now a rival?
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, 2026. By all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills her.
