Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

CoD: Black Ops 6 Zombies Will Feature Arachnophobia Mode

Activision recently detailed the Zombies mode in COD Black Ops 6, showcasing new and classic features for the round-based co-op gameplay. Among the revelations, developer Treyarch highlighted the Vermin, a terrifying creature resembling something from John Carpenter’s “The Thing.” These large, spider-like monsters have a central thorax that looks like a screaming human head, adding to their horror.

The Vermin are weak individually but become dangerous in groups, ripping themselves free from fallen zombie hosts. They can sprint, leap, and even spew corrosive substances at their foes. Additionally, they can evolve into another insect-like creature, the flying Parasite.

Treyarch has confirmed through Modern Warzone on X (formerly Twitter) that an Arachnophobia setting will be available in the game’s options to disable the Vermin’s appearance. This accessible feature has grown in popularity, with similar modes appearing in games like Obsidian’s “Grounded” and the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, “The War Within,” which includes an entire zone of sentient spider people called the Nerubians.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies looks set to revive ideas from Black Ops 3 and Black Ops: Cold War, with new twists. The multiplayer beta will run from August 30 to September 4 for those who preorder, followed by an open beta from September 6 to 9. The full game, featuring the return of fan-favorite character Frank Woods and new multiplayer features like omnidirectional movement, is among the new releases becoming accessible on October 25.
