6 Most Anticipated Movies Releasing in May 2025

May is here, and it’s quite clear that we’re eating well. The list of new movies releasing in May 2025 is epic! Fun, fantasy, and action, it’s all there in the list. So, you might need a bigger movie budget this month.

At least I do!

I don’t think I can skip any of the titles mentioned in the list. Thunderbolts sounds great, so does Lilo & Stitch. Can’t skip Final Destinations either for the nostalgia and horror. And for the last one, Fountain of Youth, well, it has Natalie Portman and John Krasinski looking for the water that keeps folks young. That’s the much-needed fantasy tale right there.

So, to put it in short, I am cooked! So are you, I guess!

Now, let’s look at the list!

Most Anticipated Hollywood Movies Releasing in May 2025

Thunderbolts

Release Date: May 01, 2025

The Suicide Squad-like team-up of antiheroes from Marvel is set to rock the summer screens. I am excited, but also a little conscious after what happened with Captain America: Brave New World. The movie tanked in critics’ reviews as well as among fans, currently standing at 5.8 out of 10 on IMDB.

Anyway, I am not here to bitc** about that movie, but to discuss the fun movies releasing in May 2025, and Thunderbolts surely tops the list!

Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and John Walker (Wyatt Russell) are thrown together for a shady mission orchestrated by the slick Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).

These dum-dums are put together to fight The Void, which is definitely way out of their league. That’s what makes the movie exciting. How are these mere humans with a little bit of extra here and there going to defeat something that makes folks non-existent by thinking?

Let’s see when it hits the theatres.

Lilo & Stitch

Release Date: May 23, 2025

Disney is trying to revive its old magic using live-action remakes of classic cartoons like Snow White and Lilo & Stitch. Unfortunately, Snow White turned out to be a disaster for the studio. However, Lilo & Stitch still remains one of the most anticipated films coming this year because of how amazing the trailer looks and how brilliant the casting is.

Fans like me are loving Stitch’s character design too. It’s almost as if the 2D version became 3D. The movie follows Lilo (Maia Kealoha), a lonely Hawaiian girl, who adopts what she thinks is an “ugly dog” but is actually Stitch (voiced by Chris Sanders), a fugitive alien who crash-landed on Earth.

As Stitch keeps making things chaotic, Lilo’s older sister Nani (Sydney Elizebeth Agudong) navigates their broken family.

Final Destinations: Bloodlines

Release Date: May 16, 2025

One of the nightmares of ’90s kids, Final Destination, is making a comeback with Bloodlines. The trailer looks like this movie is going to make us fear more day-to-day objects.

Since the release, its trailer has been watched over 27 million times just on the official YouTube channel of Warner Bros. So it’s quite clear that people are all set to welcome the new movie.

The new cast is set to join the screen with Tony Todd making an entrance for one of his final roles.

As for the plot: Death is pissed and coming for the descendants of a woman who cheated its plans at the Space Needle in the ‘60s. College student Stefanie (Brec Bassinger) is plagued by violent nightmares and heads home to break the cycle before her family meets a gruesome end.

Karate Kid: Legends

Release Date: May 30, 2025

This next chapter of the Karate Kid universe is blending the OG universe with the 2010 remake and Cobra Kai. Directed by Jonathan Entwistle, this flick is a love letter to fans and a fresh start for newbies.

Kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) moves from Beijing to NYC after a family tragedy. Struggling to fit in, he attracts the wrong kind of attention from a local karate champ. When a friend needs help, Li enters a karate competition, but his skills need a boost.

Enter Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), who team up to teach Li a hybrid of their fighting styles for the ultimate showdown. It’s got heart, action, and all the nostalgic feels.

By the way, there’s a cameo that I am most excited for. If you haven’t watched the trailer, don’t watch it and go to the movie unknown.

Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning

Release Date: May 23, 2025

After Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning is set to rock the screen in May 2025. The movie is coming out on May 23, 2025, and remains among the most anticipated titles about to be released.

In its prequel, we saw how a rogue AI has gone out of control and established a hierarchy of chaos to take down the whole world. Whether Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) will fail this mission or save the world, I am all set to see. Are you?

By the way, it’s not just the plot that makes the movie fantastic, it’s also these behind-the-scenes of stunts that have dominated my social media feeds. It’s going to be fun, and I am buckled up to experience that.

Fountain of Youth

Release Date: May 23, 2025

The heist movie comes with a mythical touch as well as a cast that’s going to make you want to watch this movie now. The movie brings John Krasinski as Luke Purdue and Natalie Portman as Charlotte Purdue, a duo of siblings reunited for a high-stakes task of high stakes.

Along with them, we have Domhnall Gleeson, Eiza González, Carmen Ejogo, Arian Moayed. Everybody is looking for that fountain that has been talked about for centuries, the Fountain of Youth. The trailer suggests these adventurers venture into puzzles that do not look modern or synthetic.

But I could be wrong, and I am waiting for May 23, 2025, to verify that.

So? Which ones are you watching?

It’s quite clear that in May 2025, we are feasting on good stuff! Movie Gods have blessed us with much to look forward to, so much that it gets a little confusing to pick one, and pocket-draining, if I pick’em all.

But we gotta do what we gotta do. How about you? Which one are you going to watch? Let me know in the comments below.
