Secret Level Review: Critics Hatin’ Gamers Celebratin’?

I watched Secret Level and went straight to read its reviews, that’s right, in that order- only to find there’s something there’s something oddly consistent among too many critics: negativity. Tim Miller’s 15-episode anthology series, Secret Level launched its first set of 8 episodes on December 10. As soon as the show got published, critics’ reviews rushed to whack it with negative ratings. On the contrary, fans are defending it already and showering it with love.

Honestly, Secret Level is exactly what a gamer would expect. It’s not groundbreaking, but it delivers. I am not sure how many will agree with this, but to me, all 8 episodes had their own charm. My favorite ones were based on Warhammer, New World, and Pac-Man. Each story’s unique take blended with stunning visuals made them a treat.

Secret Level’s Warhammer Episode Deserves Praise

Warhammer has the best visuals in all 8 initial episodes. With ultrarealistic 3D graphics paired with beautiful colors and brilliant action, the episode remains visually amazing. If you’ve got surround sound and boosted bass, this one’s your ultimate sensory experience. Try it! It’s worth every vibration.

It’s not an Uncharted Territory for Gamers

If you play video games, consider each episode of Secret Level to be a big cutscene. It’s like a compilation of those interesting cutscenes that you just don’t want to skip. Episodes are short, quickly end, and might not have a linear storyline, but they offer what they’re supposed to. Think of it as Prime’s love letter to gaming—perfectly timed after the popularity of its Fallout series. For gamers and videogame studios, this can be a hope for the promising future of game-based shows and movies.

Secret Level’s Creators Are a Little Worried About Reviews

The show is receiving mixed reactions from critics. But its creators were more worried about the reactions of fans. And guess what? Fans are showing up with overwhelming love! As many reviews I checked on Google and IMDB, the show is getting love.

It has been observed that in the gaming community, discussions often get heated. Tim has a hope of things to remain calm.

According to BBC, Tim hoped,

The Secret Level Cast Deserves Some Praise Too

The cast of Secret Level includes names like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Keanu Reeves, Kevin Hart, Laura Bailey, and Clive Standen. Apart from Hollywood’s giant names, you might know Laura from The Last of Us: Part II and Clive from Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, in the same role as the show.

Dave, one of the main creators of the show, thinks video game actors are now rising in popularity. Given the fact they do a brilliant job in games, fans might want them to show the love they deserve on screens beyond videogames too.

He says

Honestly, despite what Secret Level reviews say, if you were excited about the show, don’t let the excitement fade away. Go for it, watch it, and make your own opinion.  It’s one of those shows where you decide whether it’s art or just another experiment. It’s not for everyone. But for folks like me, it’s a beautiful show. You might love it too. But then again, to each their own.

However, once done, let me know in the comments if you liked the show, or hated me for recommending it. I am quite excited to know honestly.
