Here’s the first recommendation in my Weekend Movies series: Three Thousand Years of Longing, an epic fantasy blending deep human connection and timeless storytelling.

The first movie that I am going to introduce you to took me on a trip into time- a trippy trip indeed. I am sure it will do the same for you too!

George Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Longing isn’t just a film; it’s an odyssey through time, love, and the very essence of storytelling.

I found the movie randomly on Amazon Prime and started it without reading any reviews or checking any ratings. The usual trusting gut over reviews kinda of thing. And, I ended up finding another gem.

The movie already grabbed my attention as soon as I saw Tilda Swinton. But then it kept getting interesting by adding Idris Elba as the Djinn and his backstory into the element. But what makes this movie more interesting is the romantic touch that was planted between a human so wise yet fragile, and a Djinn so old yet impulsive and yearning.

The movie is a perfect celebration of the power of stories and the human desire for connection. It’s quirky, heartfelt, and sprinkled with moments of genuine humor that catch you off guard. The dialogues are sharp and witty, often touching on philosophical themes that make you ponder long after the credits roll.

As you progress through its story, you will figure out that every character in the flick is flawed in their own way, making them relatable and more interesting.
