Best Turkish Horror Movies: Forget Turkish Delight, Enjoy the Turkish Fright

Enjoy the Blend of Dolma and Dread with These Eerie Best Turkish Horror Movies That Will Send Shivers Down Your Spine!

Honestly, I think The Turkish Cinema deserves more praise and attention than it gets.

Have you watched its horror movies?

Some of those are absolutely mindblowing!

I am a big horror nerd personally, and English horror movies, especially the new releases, have become boring with a few exceptions of course!

As a result, my hunt for horror flicks takes me to the entertainment industries of different countries. And Turkish horror movies are giving my other favorite niche, Thai horror movies fierce competition!

Now, as my journey to find these movies is always in motion, I keep finding new titles and adding them here. For now, I will take you some of my best picks that I could think of at the time of making this list of top Turkish horror movies.

Shall we hunt?

Here’s the Best Turkish Horror Movies I have Found Until Now!

Dabbe: The Possession

Cast: Irmak Örnek, Ali Murat Özgen

The fourth film of the Dabbe franchise, Dabbe: The Possession (Turkish: Dabbe: Cin Çarpması) is one of the creepiest found footage films I have ever watched. The movie focuses on Ebru, a psychiatrist joining hands with Faruk, a local exorcist of the village.

Ebru is in the village to attend her friend Kubra’s wedding. But uninvited guests join the celebration, which later turns into the worst nightmares of family members.

Directed by Hasan Karacadağ, Dabbe: The Possession is everything you might want from a horror movie. There is black magic, exorcism, jinns, and conspiracies. Give it a shot if you’re in for something that stays with you for a long time.

Beddua: The Curse

Cast: Beyzanur Mete, Esma Soysal, Serife Ünsal

Written and Directed by Alper Mestçi, Beddua focuses on a group of four friends after a series of strange and horrifying events, realize they are the targets of a powerful and malevolent curse. As the curse’s sinister force tightens its grip, the friends must unravel the dark secrets of its origin to break free from its deadly hold.

With its eerie atmosphere, intense scares, and a storyline steeped in folklore and mysticism, the movie promises a harrowing cinematic experience that will keep audiences you on the edge of your seats.

Baskin

Cast: Mehmet Cerrahoglu, Görkem Kasal, Ergun Kuyucu

A group of police offers, during one of their investigations, realize this is not a typical job day. These officers response to call which is nothing less than the trapdoor to Hell itself. As the drama unfolds, the story unpacks, you get spine chilling sequences that might stay in your mind for a while.

But apart from the plot, the movie is also a good watch due to its cinematic experience. Baskin is known for one of the scariest Turkish horror movies that have it all. Its visuals are rich, acting is top-notch, music adds to the scary element.

What else could a horror nerd ask?

Siccin

Cast: Merve Ates, Toygun Ates, Yüksel Cakir

Siccin is a well-blended element of jealousy and horror. The story revolves around three people and how their own plights impact each other and people they love. Öznur has romantic feelings for her cousin Kudret since they were children. But Kudret ends up getting married to Nisa. This ignites the jealousy inside Öznur which becomes the plot of the movie.

Öznur consults a shaman for black magic, which impacts not only her victims but also her, in the worst possible way.

There are plenty of reasons why I appreciate Siccin. It has a great story, a great storyline, but it also has a great visualization of horror. Cinematography, especially of paranormal scenes is what makes Siccin great.

Siccin 6

Cast: Merve Ates, Adnan Koç, Dilara Büyükbayraktar

Despite mixed reviews, Siccin 6 has some great moments that make the movie worth a watch. While I personally don’t count Siccin 6 among the the best Turkish horror movies, it has its own grasp over a segment of horror fans.

The movie focuses on a girl stalked and haunted by an evil spirit in their home. As the drama unfolds, several creepy incidents come into the light that impact not only the main protagonist but also her family members.

Cadi

Cast: Furkan Andic, Buse Meral, Çagdas Onur Öztürk

Çadi (The Witch) plunges into the dark and mysterious world of ancient curses and supernatural phenomena. The real scare begins with Fikriye, a young widow forced to marry Nasit Nefi Efendi in the twilight of the Ottoman Empire.

She’s living in a mansion steeped in eerie witch rumors, and things quickly get spooky as she tries to unravel the mystery behind these chilling tales. Strange happenings and terrifying visions escalate, and Ayşe realizes that the witch’s curse is far from gone.

It’s still there, threatening her and the entire village.

Çadi remains one of the top latest Turkish horror movies I got the pleasure of watching. It’s a treat that you will surely cherish!

Well, that’s it for now. But I will keep updating this list as I find new gems you can cherish.
