But beware, it’s not just the comedy that makes the movie worth it, it delivers a sense of community, the love people have for their pets, and how a job can be more than just a job. Basil Joseph paired with Indrans delivered some great moments in the picture that made me ROFL quite a few times! 😂

The quirky and eerie Romancham, based on a true story about a group of bachelors playing the Ouija board, became a favorite for its unique blend of humor and horror. It’s a standout among the best Malayalam movies, leaving me both amused and spooked. But honestly, every movie that has Soubin Shahir turns out to be unexpectedly more fun than I initially guessed. Stree (2018)

Stree takes a comedic approach to Indian folklore, where a town is haunted by a mysterious woman. This Hindi movie cleverly balances scares with laughs, making it a significant part of contemporary top Bollywood movies and the best Indian movies that kept me entertained throughout. Fun fact, people really claim this story to be true making the movie more fun to watch.
Also, Rajkummar Rao’s comedy and Pankaj Tripathi’s presence are enough reasons why I will revisit this movie every now and then. With Stree 2 scheduled to be released among the new releases, it has big shoes to fill.
Aavesham (2024)

Vikrant’s acting in this movie is something out of the world but the storytelling takes the prize. 12th Fail is a perfect story of friendships, true love, resilience, and inspiration.
Andhadhun (2018)

If you are a fan of Ayushmann Khurana’s quirky acting and script choice, wait until you watch Andhadun. Here Ayushmann, paired with Tabu and Radhika Apte has delivered an interesting comedy thriller that keeps the viewers hooked thanks to the ongoing murder mystery in the movie.
Ayushmann Khurrana’s portrayal of a blind pianist character has multiple layers to unfold which I found quite interesting. Honestly, for me, this one reminds Ayushmann’s one of the best works of his career and when you watch the movie, you will know why I am saying that.
Swades (2004)

Swades made me rethink the meaning of home and belonging. Shah Rukh Khan’s role as an NRI who returns to India to bring change is deeply inspiring. But I am going to be very transparent, I love this movie, honestly, but I love its songs more.
Swades’ songs like Yun Hi Chala Chal Raahi, Ye Jo Desh Hai Tera, and Ye Tara Wo Tara have permanent dominance over my playlists. If you have not watched the movie, then you are lucky to come across these songs and the charm of the movie for the first time.
Dangal (2016)

Soorarai Pottru is a tale of the common man fighting the system to make flights affordable for everyone. The tale of an ambitious is filled with obstacles like corruption and greed. But the journey is worth the follow and Suriya’s great acting adds an extra charm to the storytelling making it one of the best Tamil movies I have watched.
The Great Indian Kitchen (2021)

It’s a story of unfulfilled promises, questionable love, and burdensome relationships.

Drishaym 2015 is a Hindi remake of the Malayalam movie of the same name starred by legendary Mohanlal. The storytelling throughout the movie kept me on edge with all the twists, planning, and the intensity of the thrill it had to offer.
Rockstar (2011)

Rockstar is a story of a broken-hearted artist Jordan who makes it big but that doesn’t heal his heart. Ranbir’s acting in Rockstar is just extraordinary with him proving how brilliant of an actor he is with every frame.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007)

Bhool Bhulaiyaa remains one of my favorite comedy movies by Akshay Kumar. His onscreen presence just makes you forget it was supposed to be a horror flick. So if you are looking for a fun runtime of 2 hr 49 minutes, Bhool Bhulaiyaa has your back.

I even thought the dustbin was just a quirky running joke.
But as the story unfolded, the truth hit hard. The movie took a tight grip on my heart, squeezing until, by the end, I was left with a pounding headache from all the tears I’d shed. Maharaja isn’t just a movie you watch—it’s a disturbing, yet brutally honest story that you can’t look away from. It’s harsh, it’s raw, and it’s something you need to experience for yourself.
Sarfarosh (1999)

Things start twisting from this point when Ajay’s investigation to stop cross-border terrorism reveals some truths he was not ready for. It’s a great story of patriotism, love, friendship, and even betrayals. But even in this case, more than the story, what remained with me is its songs like Hoshwalon Ko Khabar and Zindagi Maut Na Ban Jaye.

Don grabbed my attention from the first scene with its slick action and Shah Rukh Khan’s magnetic portrayal of a cunning gangster. This remake of the classic had me hooked with its stylish sequences and twists that kept me guessing till the very end.
It’s a rollercoaster of thrills that I couldn’t help but enjoy from start to finish. The remake of Amitabh’s original Don stands out to be one of the greatest remakes of Bollywood which are as thrilling as the originals.
Main Hoon Na (2004)

Main Hoon Na, with its blend of action, comedy, and romance, always leaves me entertained. Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of a protective brother and soldier is heartwarming, making it a beloved Hindi movie. This movie is also remembered for its great songs but also for Suniel Shetty’s portrayal of the villain, making it one of the rare occasions where he took an antagonist’s role.
Raanjhanaa (2013)

Raanjhanaa might seem like just Kundan and Zoya’s story, but it’s also the story of the unrequited love that Akram and Bindiya had for the people they cared about. Kundan, son of a Hindu pandit, persistently tries to convince Zoya to fall in love with him, but the story doesn’t go as he had planned. There are sweet moments in the movie, too many of them, but heartbreaks are heavier. It’s a movie I revisit once in a while, it feels fresh, and as enjoyable as the first watch.
Jawan (2023)

Jawan is the kind of film that doesn’t just entertain—it completely consumes you. From the moment Shah Rukh Khan appeared on screen, I knew I was in for something special. Watching him take on dual roles, each with its own set of complexities, was a thrill like no other. The action was relentless, keeping my heart racing with each twist and turn.
But what really drew me in was the emotional depth beneath all the high-octane stunts. There’s a raw, visceral energy to Jawan, an unexplainable charm complimented by the great BGM and action choreography.
Without a doubt, Jawan deserves a place among the best Indian movies of recent years, delivering a cinematic experience that’s both thrilling and deeply resonant.
Manjummel Boys (2022)

Manjummel Boys is like a warm hug on a rainy day—it’s comforting, familiar, and fills you with a sense of nostalgia. From the very first frame, I was transported to the small-town world of these boys, where friendship and dreams are everything.
There’s a simplicity to the story that makes it incredibly relatable, and as I watched, I couldn’t help but think back to my own childhood friendships and the dreams we once had. The camaraderie between the characters is so genuine, it feels like you’re watching your own group of friends navigate the ups and downs of life.
I will not reveal how I felt by the end of the movie, that’s a spoiler- but I swear, it’s a movie you will cherish finding and might even become one of the top 100 Indian movies for you as well lol!
Kumbalangi Nights (2019)

Kumbalangi Nights stars two of my favorite stars; Fahadh and Soubin which was the enough reason for me to get into the movie. But when it ended, I was an entirely different man. This tale of four brothers cleverly binds the story with the threads of emotions and humor making it a perfect tale of ups and downs in lives and the existence of brotherly love in these ups and downs.
It’s a thought-provoking movie that will make you regret some things, be thankful for some blessings, and maybe realize the importance of what exists around you that you don’t see yet. Also, Fahadh is not a good guy in this one. 😞
Kathal (2023)

Kathal is a rare gem that balances humor with insight, making it a movie that’s as entertaining as it is meaningful. It’s one of those best Indian movies that stands out for its unique approach to storytelling, blending comedy and commentary in a way that’s refreshingly original.
