Swades made me rethink the meaning of home and belonging. Shah Rukh Khan’s role as an NRI who returns to India to bring change is deeply inspiring. But I am going to be very transparent, I love this movie, honestly, but I love its songs more.

The movie focuses on a group of young friends who, after the death of one of their friends and the insult of his death by politicians shook the world. The film seamlessly blends past and present, highlighting the power of youth to bring about change. It’s one of the most impactful Bollywood movies I’ve ever watched and honestly, its songs just make the movie much more impactful. Ranbir Kapoor’s role as the reluctant politician grappling with his family’s political legacy pulls you into the chaotic whirlwind of Indian politics.
The movie is a modern-day retelling of the Mahabharata, but with a twist that leaves you questioning the cost of power. And let me just say, if you thought politics was boring, this film will make you think twice. Get ready for some serious plot twists and jaw-dropping moments.
Bhoothnath (2008)

RRR (2022)

RRR is the cinematic spectacle that took the world by storm, proving once again that Indian cinema knows how to deliver epic tales like no other. The film, set in the 1920s, is a fictionalized story of two revolutionaries fighting against British rule.
The action sequences are jaw-dropping, the music is electrifying, and the performances—especially by Ram Charan and N.T. Rama Rao Jr.—are nothing short of legendary.
Rajamouli’s direction brings a grand scale to the screen, making RRR not just a movie but an experience that’s meant to be felt with every punch, every song, and every tear. Trust me, this is one rollercoaster you don’t want to miss!
Dhanak (2015)
Director: Nagesh Kukunoor
Top Cast: Hetal Gada, Krrish Chhabria, Vipin Sharma
Dhanak is a simple, sweet tale that I found heartwarming as hell. The story of a sibling duo follows their journey across Rajasthan to meet Shah Rukh Khan, hoping he can help restore the brother’s eyesight. What makes Dhanak truly special is its innocence and the bond between the siblings, which is portrayed so beautifully that you’ll find yourself rooting for them at every step.
It’s a feel-good movie that reminds you of the power of dreams, determination, and the pure love between a brother and sister. Honestly, it’s like a rainbow on a rainy day—just what you need to lift your spirits. And there’s a song that might stay with you the way it stayed with me- Dum-A-Dum Mast Qalandar.

Mukti Bhawan is a gentle, introspective film that takes you on a journey through the rituals of life and death. The story revolves around a father-son duo who check into a hotel in Varanasi, where people come to spend their last days.
Adil Hussain’s performance as the dutiful son, balancing his responsibilities while coming to terms with his father’s decision, is both poignant and relatable. The film beautifully captures the essence of mortality, spirituality, and the bonds that tie us together.
It’s a contemplative experience, one that makes you reflect on life’s transient nature and the importance of letting go. Keep tissues handy—you might need them and stay ready to be shaken from the deeper inside.
Masaan (2015)
Director: Neeraj Ghaywan
Top Cast: Richa Chadha, Sanjay Mishra, Vicky Kaushal
Masaan is one of those films that hits you hard with its raw, unfiltered portrayal of life’s harsh realities. Set in the ghats of Varanasi, it weaves together two parallel stories of love, loss, and redemption.
Richa Chadha and Vicky Kaushal deliver performances that are both powerful and heartbreaking, making you feel every ounce of their pain and resilience. The film’s depiction of societal pressures, grief, and the pursuit of freedom is done with such subtlety and grace that it leaves a lasting impact.

Maharaja (2024)
Director: Nithilan Saminathan
Top Cast: Vijay Sethupathi, Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas
I’ve been a fan of Vijay’s movies for years, so when Maharaja came out, I jumped at the chance to watch it without a second thought. Initially, it seemed like a light-hearted comedy about a guy with an unusual obsession with his dustbin—something that felt almost comical at first. I even thought the dustbin was just a quirky running joke.
But as the story unfolded, the truth hit hard. The movie took a tight grip on my heart, squeezing until, by the end, I was left with a pounding headache from all the tears I’d shed. Maharaja isn’t just a movie you watch—it’s a disturbing, yet brutally honest story that you can’t look away from. It’s harsh, it’s raw, and it’s something you need to experience for yourself.
Sarfarosh (1999)
Director: John Mathew Matthan
Top Cast: Aamir Khan, Naseeruddin Shah, Sonali Bendre
Aamir Khan’s role Ajay Rathod joins the Mumbai Crime Branch after leaving his medical studies following the murder of his brother at the hands of terrorists. He is a fan of Pakistani ghazal singer Gulfam Hassan with whom he formed a great friendship during their meeting in a concert.
Things start twisting from this point when Ajay’s investigation to stop cross-border terrorism reveals some truths he was not ready for. It’s a great story of patriotism, love, friendship, and even betrayals. But even in this case, more than the story, what remained with me is its songs like Hoshwalon Ko Khabar and Zindagi Maut Na Ban Jaye.
Don (2006)
Director: Farhan Akhtar
Top Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Arjun Rampal
Don grabbed my attention from the first scene with its slick action and Shah Rukh Khan’s magnetic portrayal of a cunning gangster. This remake of the classic had me hooked with its stylish sequences and twists that kept me guessing till the very end.
It’s a rollercoaster of thrills that I couldn’t help but enjoy from start to finish. The remake of Amitabh’s original Don stands out to be one of the greatest remakes of Bollywood which are as thrilling as the originals.
Main Hoon Na (2004)
Director: Farah Khan
Top Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Suniel Shetty
Main Hoon Na, with its blend of action, comedy, and romance, always leaves me entertained. Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of a protective brother and soldier is heartwarming, making it a beloved Hindi movie. This movie is also remembered for its great songs but also for Suniel Shetty’s portrayal of the villain, making it one of the rare occasions where he took an antagonist’s role.
Raanjhanaa (2013)
Director: Aanand L. Rai
Top Cast: Dhanush, Sonam Kapoor, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub
Raanjhanaa might seem like just Kundan and Zoya’s story, but it’s also the story of the unrequited love that Akram and Bindiya had for the people they cared about. Kundan, son of a Hindu pandit, persistently tries to convince Zoya to fall in love with him, but the story doesn’t go as he had planned. There are sweet moments in the movie, too many of them, but heartbreaks are heavier. It’s a movie I revisit once in a while, it feels fresh, and as enjoyable as the first watch.
Jawan (2023)
Director: Atlee
Top Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi
Jawan is the kind of film that doesn’t just entertain—it completely consumes you. From the moment Shah Rukh Khan appeared on screen, I knew I was in for something special. Watching him take on dual roles, each with its own set of complexities, was a thrill like no other. The action was relentless, keeping my heart racing with each twist and turn.
But what really drew me in was the emotional depth beneath all the high-octane stunts. There’s a raw, visceral energy to Jawan, an unexplainable charm complimented by the great BGM and action choreography.
Without a doubt, Jawan deserves a place among the best Indian movies of recent years, delivering a cinematic experience that’s both thrilling and deeply resonant.
Manjummel Boys (2022)
Director: Chidambaram
Top Cast: Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese
Manjummel Boys is like a warm hug on a rainy day—it’s comforting, familiar, and fills you with a sense of nostalgia. From the very first frame, I was transported to the small-town world of these boys, where friendship and dreams are everything.
There’s a simplicity to the story that makes it incredibly relatable, and as I watched, I couldn’t help but think back to my own childhood friendships and the dreams we once had. The camaraderie between the characters is so genuine, it feels like you’re watching your own group of friends navigate the ups and downs of life.
I will not reveal how I felt by the end of the movie, that’s a spoiler- but I swear, it’s a movie you will cherish finding and might even become one of the top 100 Indian movies for you as well lol!

Director: Madhu C. Narayanan
Top Cast: Shane Nigam, Soubin Shahir, Fahadh Faasil
Kumbalangi Nights stars two of my favorite stars; Fahadh and Soubin which was the enough reason for me to get into the movie. But when it ended, I was an entirely different man. This tale of four brothers cleverly binds the story with the threads of emotions and humor making it a perfect tale of ups and downs in lives and the existence of brotherly love in these ups and downs.
It’s a thought-provoking movie that will make you regret some things, be thankful for some blessings, and maybe realize the importance of what exists around you that you don’t see yet. Also, Fahadh is not a good guy in this one. 😞
Kathal (2023)
Director: Yashowardhan Mishra
Top Cast: Sanya Malhotra, Anant Joshi, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav
Kathal is the kind of movie that sneaks up on you, starting with laughs and ending with a surprising depth that leaves you thinking long after it’s over. When I first watched it, I was drawn in by the quirky premise and the light-hearted satire, but what really made an impact was the way it subtly reflected on societal norms.
Sanya Malhotra’s performance was both charming and thought-provoking, adding layers to a story that could easily have been just a fun watch. Instead, it turned out to be a film that made me laugh, yes, but also made me ponder about the absurdities of life that we often overlook.
Kathal is a rare gem that balances humor with insight, making it a movie that’s as entertaining as it is meaningful. It’s one of those best Indian movies that stands out for its unique approach to storytelling, blending comedy and commentary in a way that’s refreshingly original.
Falimy (2023)
Director: Nithish Sahadev
Top Cast: Basil Joseph, Jagadish, Manju Pillai
Falimy is the kind of light-hearted film that instantly lifts your spirits. Watching it felt like being part of an inside joke that only those with big, noisy families could truly appreciate. The humor is spot on, poking fun at the little quirks and annoyances that make family life both challenging and endearing.
I found myself nodding along, recognizing those relatable moments that everyone with a close-knit family has experienced. But it’s not just about laughs; there’s a warmth to the narrative that makes you appreciate the chaos that comes with being part of a family. By the end, I was left with a big smile on my face, reminded that at the end of the day, no matter how crazy things get, family is what makes life worth living.
Falimy definitely earns its place among the best Indian movies that explore the joy and chaos of family life with humor and heart.

Baahubali: The Beginning was a cinematic experience like no other—grand, majestic, and absolutely unforgettable. The first time I watched it, I was completely blown away by the scale of the visuals and the epic storyline that unfolded before my eyes. Prabhas brought such power and charisma to the role of Baahubali, and I found myself completely engrossed in his journey.
The action sequences were nothing short of breathtaking, each one more spectacular than the last. But what truly made an impact was the emotional core of the story—the loyalty, the betrayal, the fight for what’s right. By the time the movie ended, I was left in awe, eagerly waiting to see how this epic saga would conclude.
Baahubali: The Beginning isn’t just a movie; it’s a phenomenon that redefined Indian cinema and set a new benchmark for what’s possible on the big screen. It’s undeniably one of the 100 Indian movies that have changed the face of cinema with its sheer scale and storytelling.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)
Director: Kabir Khan
Top Cast: Salman Khan, Harshaali Malhotra, Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a heartwarming tale that moved me deeply. The story of a man’s journey to reunite a mute girl with her family in Pakistan is both touching and inspiring. Salman Khan’s compassionate performance, combined with Harshaali Malhotra’s innocent charm, created a bond between the characters that felt genuine and pure.
The film’s narrative is a beautiful reminder of the power of kindness and the lengths we go to for those we care about. Bajrangi Bhaijaan is one of the best Indian movies that leaves you with a warm heart and a renewed faith in humanity.
Jallikattu (2019)
Director: Lijo Jose Pellissery
Top Cast: Antony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sabumon Abdusamad
Jallikattu is an entirely different experience than anything I had seen in Indian cinema. It’s a raw commentary on the primal nature that humans have. As the frenzy unfolded, I found myself reflecting on human nature, our hidden savagery, and the thin line between civilization and chaos.
It’s the kind of film that stays with you, making you question what you’d do in such a situation. This is why Jallikattu is one of the 100 Indian movies that break boundaries and push the limits of storytelling.

Jai Bhim is a societal slap telling the story of injustice that exists even in the 21st century on the basis of casts and communities. It’s a fight of a lawyer to help a family get justice for the custodial deaths of their family members. The film shook me to the core giving me a reality check of how someone is having a moment out there that is so bad that my mind can’t even comprehend.
By the end, I was left with a deep sense of respect for the real-life heroes who fight against injustice every day. Jai Bhim stands out among the best Indian movies that address social issues with such profound impact.
Asuran (2019)
Director: Vetrimaaran
Top Cast: Dhanush, Manju Warrier, Prakash Raj
Asuran had me completely engrossed from start to finish. This gritty tale of revenge and survival, set against the backdrop of caste oppression, is as powerful as it is intense. Dhanush’s performance was nothing short of mesmerizing—his transformation from a humble farmer to a vengeful warrior was both heartbreaking and inspiring.
The raw storytelling and unflinching portrayal of violence made me reflect on the harsh realities faced by many in rural India. Asuran is one of those 100 Indian movies that you simply can’t miss—it’s a cinematic experience that leaves a lasting impression.
