James Gunn’s Superman shooting is set to move next week to The Queen City. According to reports, the movie is expected to hit theatres in July 2025.
Superman Legacy, the newest adaptation of the saga of The Man of Steel, is in production. Following an extensive production schedule in Ohio, Cincinnati is set to become the new home for our superhero’s adventures.
Superman’s shooting is going on under the codename ‘Genesis.’ According to the official website, The Union Terminal is closed on July 18 for a private event; folks are guessing that is the day when the Superman shooting kickstarts in the city. However, there are no official confirmations yet.
Additionally, the Lytle Tunnel will also remain closed partially. According to an announcement made by the Ohio Department of Transportation on Tuesday, the Southbound lane of Interstate 71 is to remain closed between 4 pm to 6 pm on July 18. There will be a couple of closures, each lasting 15 minutes within the slot at any time.
A casting call has been announced as well to find real police officers as extras. This call was made under the codename ‘Genesis.’ According to the Google Docs form that invited applications, filming of extras is scheduled in Cincinnati for June 24, 28, July 3, 8, and 18.
Why Cincinnati?
Well, The Queen City has a long-lasting history of its impact on the DC universe. The Union Terminal inspired the infamous Hall of Justice that DC superheroes use as their headquarters. Cartoonists Al Gmuer and Joe Barbera found their inspiration in this museum while they were on the hunt for cool ideas throughout the city. Following this, the inspired design of the Hall of Justice debuted in ‘Super Friends.’
