Official Creature Commandos trailer showcasing James Gunn's new animated series featuring a black ops team of monsters in the DC Universe.

James Gunn’s ‘Creature Commandos’ Trailer: Is The Suicide Squad Getting Replaced?

After keeping the world on its toes with his schedule occupied by Superman’s Shooting, James Gunn’s DC has just released the Creature Commandos trailer. The James Gunn’s adult animated series is expected to hit MAX on December 5th, 2024.

Following in the footsteps of DC’s recent hits like Peacemaker and Harley Quinn, Creature Commandos takes us beyond the realm of antiheroes and deep into the Monsterverse. And honestly, the trailer looks dope AF! I am all in already!

Monsters, Black Ops, and Chaos—Oh My!

DC’s Creature Commandos resumes where the first season of Peacemaker ends. Amanda Waller, as exposed as she is now, forms a black ops team of 🥁🥁🥁 MONSTERS! While this one is not in live action, the trailer looks promising with lots of action to look forward to.

Seriously, it’s wild (but in the best way possible). 🔥

You can already tell that this show is going full The Boys with its unapologetically dark tone, and honestly, who doesn’t want to see DC lean into its darker side? The trailer’s got just the right mix of humor and carnage, with enough blood splatters to make you glad it’s animated. 😅

Breaking Down the James Gunn’s Creature Commandos Team

This monster mashup includes some seriously talented voices:

  • Zoë Chao as Nina Mazursky
  • Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.
  • Sean Gunn as both GI Robot & Weasel (because of course)
  • David Harbour as Frankenstein (yes, that Frankenstein)
  • Indira Varma as The Bride
  • Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus
  • Steve Agee as Economos
  • Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana
  • Anya Chalotra as Circe
  • Viola Davis returning as Amanda Waller (need we say more?)

James Gunn isn’t pulling any punches here, and this cast alone is enough to get anyone hyped for December 5th. Between David Harbour as Frankenstein and The Suicide Squad’s Weasel making a comeback, this is shaping up to be one of DC’s most unique ensembles yet.

What Else is Happening in the DC Universe?

The Hollywood Reporter posted a detailed coverage of Gunn’s recent panel where he revealed a few details about his new projects including Creature Commandos, Lanterns, and Supergirl.

Some details shared by him were:

For Lanterns and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, he said

James further added for Creature Commandos

Dean Lorey, the executive producer of the show also added,

Well, Gunn also hinted that he was thinking of picking a few characters and taking them to Superman. There’s no confirmation on who is going to be that, probably Rick Flag Sr., but you never know, only time will tell.

While some answers will be given on December 5th when the show hits the screen, others will remain until the next Superman movie comes. Until then, you could catch up with everything else going on in the DC universe after Gunn joined. Here are some suggestions to catch up!
