New K-dramas in February 2025: Jisoo’s  Newtopia Got Some Competiton

K-dramas in February 2025 are not holding themselves back- there’s so much to look forward to beyond Jisoo’s Newtopia. Let me take you through them!

January was an exciting month for K-dramas. February 2025 hints the same. Fun titles are coming out in Feb but surely, Jisoo’s Newtopia is getting so much attention. But if you’re already tired of zombies and stuff, don’t worry, fun things are coming.

The Scandal of Chunhwa personally sounds super fun to me. I loved Mr. Queen, the comedy K-drama set in the Joseon era. The Scandal of Chunhwa gives the same vibe but with more adultness.

Melo Movie also sounds like a cute romance story to look forward to.

So, let’s tighten our belts and see what’s in the store!

Kick Kick Kick Kick

Cast: Ji Jin-hee, Lee Kyu-hyung

Release Date: February 5, 2025

Beneath the binding lights lies the past of a star, looking to reclaim his glory. I am talking about Ji Jin Hui, once the nation’s sweetheart, now a fading name. In his redemption arc, he comes across Cho Yeong Sik—a fallen star PD in the hunt for his own redemption. Together they co-founded the Kick Kick Kick Kick Company.

Their shaky partnership is held together by Baek Ji Won, the company’s sharp-witted therapist, and Lee Min Jae, a relentless workaholic bent on making it big. But you never know, some old grudges or secrets never revealed could jeopardize everything. Well, whatever happens, among all upcoming K-dramas in February 2025, this one has the balance of feelings of all kinds for sure.

The Scandal of Chunhwa

Cast: Go A-ra, Chang Ryul

Release Date: February 6, 2025

Hwa Ri, the youngest princess of the royal family of the not-so-real country Dongbangguk, is on a hunt for a perfect husband for her. Well, before you know it, she is already out on a voyage looking for her suitors, and also for someone who made her the main character of erotic Chunhwa paintings. In parallel, a suitor considered for the princess hides some secrets darker than the money he owns.

Newtopia

Cast: Park Jung-min, Kim Ji-soo

Release Date: February 7, 2025

Not sure if I am more excited about zombies, or Jisoo with zombies! Yeah, Newtopia has the Blackpink magic with Jisoo joining the cast. As the plot suggests, the zombie drama is mixed with an unfulfilled romance. So you know, I fear with all the comedy vibe the trailer gave it, there are going to be tears. So, ready to sacrifice some new characters you fall in love with for good entertainment? I definitely am!

Friendly Rivalry

Cast: Lee Hye-ri, Chung Su-bin, Kang Hye-won, Oh Woo-ri

Release Date: February 10, 2025

Meet Woo Seul Ki, an orphan from the countryside who’s just transferred into the elite Chaehwa High School, home to the top 1% in the country. She can’t seem to click with her new classmates—until Yoo Je Yi shows up. With her genius IQ, wealthy family, and jaw-dropping looks, Yoo Je Yi rules the school, and she’s more than a little intrigued by Woo Seul Ki.

Their budding friendship quickly morphs into something dangerously close to obsession, blurring the lines between trust and temptation in a world where power means everything. Anyway, whether this rivalry will successfully rival other K-dramas in February 2025 or not, I am definitely going to check it out!

Melo Movie

Cast: Choi Woo-shik, Park Bo-young, Lee Jun-young, Jeon So-nee

Release Date: February 14, 2025

Kim Mu Bi wants to become a directory, just like her later father was. Slowly slowly, she is making her way towards her dream. Meanwhile, Ko Gyeom, a part actor is now a full-time film critic. (am I the inspiration?) Anyway, they both had a relationship in their teenage years which ended on a bad note. But now, their paths cross again and sparks fly.

Before you know it, they begin a love story fueled by ambition, shared passion, and the promise of new beginnings. That’s a sign of all the love, laughter, and loss (hopefully not!) we need to brace ourselves for.

Buried Hearts

Cast: Park Hyung-sik, Heo Joon-ho

Release Date: February 14, 2025

A desperate hacker steals a 2 trillion won slush fund, while a fearsome power broker unknowingly loses it by killing the wrong man. Seo Dong Ju, Daesan Group’s fiercely loyal chief secretary, secretly aims to devour the company from within.

Meanwhile, Yeom Jang Seon—a former intelligence director turned law professor—pulls every string in the political realm, thriving on money, power, and total control. What I feel is after going into the plot of other K-dramas coming in Feb 2025, this one is much darker, serious, and stream-worthy.

The Witch

Cast: Park Jin-young, Roh Jeong-eui

Release Date: February 15, 2025

It’s a heartbreaking story of a woman who is called ‘Witch’ by the world. Park Mi Jeong is an expert in English and a translator with a life filled with solitude. Her love life hasn’t been very successful either because of how everybody saw her in a dark light.

However, the hope of her story lies in Lee Dong Jin, a boy from her high school days whom she seldom thinks about. It seems like, among all the K-dramas in February 2025, this one is going to make people shed tears. I just hope the ending is happy.

My Dearest Nemesis

Cast: Moon Ga-young, Choi Hyun-wook, Im Se-mi, Kwak Si-yang

Release Date: February 17, 2025

Baek Su Jeong is a hard-working woman recognized for her top performance in the departmental score that she works in. Beyond being a top performer, she is also fierce with no fear of calling people out for their wrongdoings.

On a random day, Ban Ju Yeon, whom she hadn’t met for the last 16 years, becomes her boss. In the past, they had a history of playing an online game together which didn’t end well. The story might sound simple- but it’s complex, more than you can imagine. I am not going to give you more scoop than this, let’s keep some curiosity alive!

Undercover High School

Cast: Seo Kang-joon, Jin Ki-joo

Release Date: February 21, 2025

Jung Hae Seong—a top NIS agent gone rogue after a demotion—goes undercover as a high schooler hunting King Gojong’s missing gold. Then his homeroom teacher, Su A, begins seeing echoes of her lost first love in him.

I’m absolutely buzzing to watch this show! Sounds exciting as hell!
