Your ultimate list of New K-dramas in October 2024

  1. Family by Choice – October 9, 2024

Let’s kick things off with Family by Choice, a heartfelt drama about three childhood friends who reunite as adults after 10 years apart. Starring Hwang In-yeop (True Beauty), Jung Chae-yeon (The King’s Affection), and Bae Hyun-sung (Our Blues), it’s all about found family, love, and navigating adulthood. If you’re a sucker for dramas that hit you in the feels, this one’s for you! Think Go Ahead but with a bit more tension and unresolved feelings.

  1. Dongjae, the Good or the Bastard – October 10, 2024

For those who loved Stranger, this spin-off follows the morally grey prosecutor Seo Dong-jae, played by Lee Joon-hyuk (365: Repeat the Year). Dongjae, the Good or the Bastard picks up with him trying to redeem himself after his corrupt past, but, as you’d expect, things are never that simple in the K-drama world. The mix of crime and redemption makes it perfect if you enjoy dark, introspective thrillers.

  1. Doubt – October 11, 2024

Doubt is a psychological thriller starring Han Suk-kyu (Romantic Doctor) as a top profiler who discovers a chilling secret involving his own daughter. Luckily, this K-drama releasing in October 2024 is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat. If you’re into shows like Signal or Mouse, you’ll love the intense father-daughter dynamics and the nail-biting tension.

  1. Jeong-Nyeon: The Star is Born – October 12, 2024

Jeong-Nyeon takes us back to the 1950s, post-Korean War, following the ambitious Yoon Jeong-nyeon (played by the ever-talented Kim Tae-ri, from Twenty-Five Twenty-One) as she strives to become an actress in a prestigious all-female theater company. It’s got a Mr. Sunshine vibe but with a focus on dreams and drama in the performing arts world. If you’re a fan of period pieces with strong female leads, this is your show.

  1. A Virtuous Business – October 12, 2024

This one is based on the British drama Brief Encounters and stars Kim So-yeon (Penthouse) as a housewife who teams up with other women in her community to sell adult products door-to-door in the early 1990s. It’s empowering, heartwarming, and full of friendship dynamics. If Kim Ji-young, Born 1982 hits you hard, A Virtuous Business will have a similar effect.

Lastly, we’ve got Parole Examiner Lee, a legal drama starring Go Soo (Missing: The Other Side). He plays a parole officer who’s on a personal mission for revenge within the criminal justice system.
