Most Anticipated August 2025 Movies I Need to Tell You About

August 2025 movies are packed with stunning titles, giving superhero-packed July a fierce competition. The most exciting August 2025 movie release that’s keeping me on my toes is The Bad Guy 2. The first part was stunning, and the sequel is already here? Great bruh!

But there’s more to look forward to.

Here’s a list of August 2025 Movies

The Bad Guys 2

August 01, 2025

Pre-order now

I’m especially hyped for this sequel, our beloved heist crew is hijacked back into action, but this time it’s global and glammed up with a fierce, all-female villain squad. Think Mission: Impossible meets animated charm.

The original voice makes a banger comeback, including Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Awkwafina, alongside Danielle Brooks, Natasha Lyonne, and Maria Bakalova as the charismatic “Bad Girls.” With DreamWorks and Universal in the mix, high-energy action, a dynamic score by Daniel Pemberton, and a reported $80 million budget, this promises big laughs and even bigger thrills. It’s already made a splash internationally in July.

The Naked Gun

August 01, 2025

Pre-order now

If you’re familiar with the original The Naked Franchise, you will find it a perfect reboot of the same. But even if you’re not familiar, it’s time you’re introduced to this hilarious af saga of Detective Frank Drebin. In this movie, though, you meet Frank Drebin Jr. (Liam Neeson), continuing the legacy of Leslie Nielsen. But don’t get confused, Liam’s character is the son of Frank Drebin from the original franchise.

So, while it’s a reboot, it takes the story forward instead of rewriting and rebuilding it from scratch. The film was released on August 01 and has managed to secure a 7 rating on IMDB.

Directed by Akiva Schaffer and produced by Seth MacFarlane, this film keeps the absurd humor alive while moving the story forward. Neeson’s deadpan delivery, paired with Pamela Anderson as Beth, a woman seeking justice for her brother’s death, promises a riot of laughs and action. Paul Walter Hauser also joins the cast, adding to the comedic chaos.

Dhadak 2

August 1, 2025

Bollywood brings the heat with Dhadak 2, a standout among upcoming international movies in August 2025. Directed by Shazia Iqbal and produced by Dharma Productions, this sequel to 2018’s Dhadak tackles caste politics and social injustice through the intense love story of Neelesh (Siddhant Chaturvedi) and Vidhi (Triptii Dimri).

Inspired by the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, it’s a gritty, emotional ride with soulful music. X posts praise its raw realism, and it’s set for a big opening in India and diaspora markets..

Weapons

August 8, 2025

Pre-order now

It’s not every day that horror movies from Hollywood excite me. But I am so ready to watch Weapons. Zach Cregger—director of Barbarian—returns with a mind-bending, multi-perspective mystery: 17 third-graders vanish eerily from their town, leaving one traumatized survivor behind.

Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan (in a terrifying great-aunt role) bring powerful performances. Critics’ reviews are calling it “the standout horror of the year” and even a “horror masterpiece,” praising its inventive structure, emotional depth, and chilling tension. The film scored a brutal $18M opening day and is set to top $30M by weekend’s end.

Freakier Friday

August 8, 2025

Freakier Friday brings back Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan for a nostalgic body-swap sequel that’s one of the most anticipated new films in August 2025. Directed by Nisha Ganatra, it follows Anna (Lohan), now a mom, and her daughter Harper (Julia Butters), as they swap bodies with Tess (Curtis) and stepdaughter Lily (Sophia Hammons). Chaos ensues with a stellar cast, including Chad Michael Murray and Manny Jacinto. With a 63/100 Metascore, it’s a fun, family-friendly throwback.

War 2

August 14, 2025

War 2 is a heavyweight among August 2025 movies, expanding YRF’s Spy Universe. Hrithik Roshan returns as Agent Kabir, facing off against Jr. NTR’s villainous Agent Vikram, with Kiara Advani adding star power. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, this action-thriller promises jaw-dropping stunts and an IMAX release, shot across six countries. X posts are hyping its high-octane energy, making it a must-see for Bollywood action fans.

Hell House LLC: Lineage

August 20, 2025

The Hell House LLC franchise returns with Lineage, the latest chapter in the found-footage horror series. This installment dives deeper into the eerie Abaddon Hotel, where paranormal investigators uncover new terrors tied to the property’s cursed history.

Known for its low-budget chills and loyal cult following, the series continues to deliver jump scares and unsettling atmosphere. While specific plot details are under wraps, fans are buzzing about its return after a strong run on streaming platforms like Shudder.

Nobody 2

August 22, 2025

Bob Odenkirk is back as Hutch Mansell in Nobody 2, and this sequel to 2021’s Nobody is ready to crank up the chaos. Directed by Timo Tjahjanto, the film follows Hutch on a family vacation that spirals into a battle against bloodthirsty crime bosses.

Sharon Stone, Colin Hanks, and Christopher Lloyd join the cast, adding fresh energy to the gritty action. The original Nobody was a sleeper hit, and this follow-up promises bloodier fights, darker humor, and deeper dives into Hutch’s violent past.

If that bus fight from the first movie still runs into your mind and gives you an adrenaline rush, get ready to go grander.

The Toxic Avenger

August 29, 2025

Closing out the month is The Toxic Avenger, a wild reboot of the 1984 cult classic. Peter Dinklage stars as Winston Gooze, a janitor turned mutant hero after a freak accident. Directed by Macon Blair, this film keeps the original’s over-the-top gore and dark humor while tackling corrupt forces in a modern setting. With a cast including Jacob Tremblay and Taylor Paige, it’s a chaotic blend of action, comedy, and horror that’s already generating buzz for its unapologetic weirdness.
