Warning: This House of the Dragon Season 2 Review Might Contain Spoilers!
We are here, back to the Seven Kingdoms, to Serve the One and True Ruler, Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, First of her name, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lady of the Seven Kingdoms, protector of the realm.
The touch of nostalgia that the Winterfell theme brought was enough to give a signal: Tears are Coming!
The Game of Thrones Universe had always to keep a poetic grip on the attention span of its audience (Not talking about last seasons!😡)
After delivering a solid buildup in the first season, House of the Dragon Season 2 creators, nonetheless, managed to deliver a strong foundation once again.
This season, the stakes are higher: the dragons, FIERCER! And the political intrigue? Even more labyrinthine. Queen Rhaenyra faces threats from within and without, and the battle for the Iron Throne is more ruthless than ever. You never know who knocks on her doors or whose doors she knocks on! 🤫
How’s it Going so Far?
Well, there have been three episodes this season until now. And my House of the Dragon Season 2 Review is going to be based on that!
In my country, that’s three Mondays I love!
The season opens up with the Winterfell theme and takes us back to The Wall. We meet our boy Jacaerys Velaryon (with a new hairstyle of course) accompanied by The Lord of Winterfell, Cregan Stark!
To set up the pace of what’s coming, this was the perfect opening. Now as we move forward into the season, there are disturbing things happening, politics brewing, and betrayals making their way to the Council table of the Greens.
In terms of the story progression, we are definitely in for a treat! it is also crucial to know that the show deviates from the original books. So there are surprises at every corner, some disturbing, some exciting!
And the Production Quality?
Ramin Djawadi’s beloved Game of Thrones has returned with some retouching done in the opening credits. As for the visuals, some brilliant camerawork has been blended subtly with the medieval tapestry depicting the Targaryen History- mainly The Dance of the Dragons civil war.
“The amazing opening sequence for the original show put us in this place where — not that we were trying to top it, but that we were trying to continue the tradition of an evolving credit sequence that changes.”
– Co-creator and showrunner Ryan Condal, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter
The Cinematography and direction have managed to dominate chart boards in positive reviews once again. On Rotten Tomatoes, the show stands at a 90% score from critics and at 87% score from Audience so far. These reviews are positively validating all the hard work creators put into making the brilliant show. Some are even talking about how, House of the Dragon production Quality could even overshadow the damage GOT did in its last seasons.
Well, you can never be too hopeful!
